Baci di Dame
This “kiss of a lady” is a Piedmontese delicacy that sandwiches fine Belgian chocolate between two hazelnut shortbread cookies. The Piedmont is famous for its hazelnuts; you are likely to find a hazelnut tree in each family’s backyard in this part of Italy. We ground fresh hazelnuts into our shortbread batter making a course, nutty and buttery foundation for the chocolate. If you like Nutella, you’ll love this cookie.
A tender and delicious, yet unpretentious flour and butter batter is the foundation for our jelly cookies. We use unsalted butter in the dough because of its smooth, uncluttered flavor. Sugar for sweetness, fresh lemon peel for brightness, and extracts of vanilla and almond for their mellowing qualities all work together to make this a delicious cookie all by itself.
We sandwich a dollop of jelly—strawberry, raspberry or apricot— between two cookies for a festive, colorful treat that are traditional for special events such as birthdays, weddings and Christmas.
Our melt-in-your-mouth Wedding Cookies are unquestionably Italian with their lemon zest. But we’ve made the flavor more delicate by using fresh ground pecans rather than almonds in the shortbread.
Ricciarelli Dipped in Chocolate
We add sweetened orange peel, fragrant orange zest and fresh almonds to provide a flavor that lingers lightly on one’s palate.
